Commandments

V.3 God the Father and Jesus Christ his Son will give you grace, mercy and peace. Those blessings will be with us because we love the truth.

God has freely given us these blessings of grace, mercy and peace because He loves and cares for us.

V. 4-6 It has given me great joy to find some of your children living by the truth. That's just what the Father command us to do. Dear lady, I'm not writing you a new command. I'm writing a command we've had from the beginning. I'm asking that we love one another. The way we show our love is to obey God's commands. He commands you to lead a life of love. That's what you heard from the beginning.

He has commanded us to lead a life of love. And also, to lead a life of obedience. To show others how to love and obey the commandments of God.

V. 9 Some people run ahead of others. They don't follow the teaching of Christ. People like that don't belong to God. But those who follow the teaching of Christ belong to the Father and the Son.

We can't follow each teaching of Christ and you know that, because we're all sinners. But that's why Christ died for us! Because we were not able to follow each teaching, each commandment. Because were not perfect. But Jesus has forgiven each and every sin we have made. Because He loves you!
